St. Lucia’s Day, festival of lights celebrated in Sweden, Norway, and Finland on Dec 13 in honor of St. Lucia (St. Lucy). St. Lucia was killed by the Romans in 304 CE. Her celebration welcomes the start of the Christmas season, and she sheds light on darkest time of the year.

UPDATE! Expect additional delays…. my mom has just been admitted into hospice care (a huge relief). Although she’s not in any discomfort or pain, she is refusing to eat and is now under 100 lbs. and sleeps nearly all the time. Hospice ensures her comfort. She’s 95 yrs. old, so I know she’s ready and just wants to go. I say the prayer for a happy death for her.
